We reserved this house to attend a conference at the Convention Center. We were only 4 people, and the place would be comfortable for many more, kids included- but for us it was perfect. Very comfortable bedrooms, sitting areas, and kitchen/dining. It is appointed for large groups, and we hosted a small gathering and everyone loved the house. Gary was helpful and very accommodating when our plans changed and we arrived a day ahead of schedule. We were able to take the bus to convention center when needed, or it's a 10 minute drive. Great local restaurants and easy shopping. I'd recommend this for any family or friends gathering in Portland.

Our expectations were exceeded and the evening was a huge success. Everyone felt they were home and relaxed. If you want to stay in a home while on vacation - this is the one! Gary was always readily available to answer questions before, during and at the end of stay. Forever grateful.

We had a fabulous stay at the Piedmont guest house. We were in town for our son's art show and needed a place that could accomodate 12 people, including an infant, toddler and an elderly great-grandmother not steady on her feet. This house perfectly met all our requirements. It was absolutely spotless to start with; if only we had your housekeeper! The house came fully equipped with high chair, booster seat, pack-n-play, wi-fi, a huge HD TV (a must for the men in our group), a fully functional kitchen, and a Starbucks less than 1/8 mile away! We even had reason to use the washer and dryer, since babies can be really messy. Throughout our stay, Gary was completely available and immediately answered my questions. I know the key to our successful family reunion was having this great house as our headquarters. Thank you again, Gary, for your hospitality!

We are still glowing from our wonderful 5 day stay at this beautiful NE Portland rental. It was the perfect location for family to gather to celebrate our son's wedding and family brunch the following day. Each room was beautifully decorated, their was ample space, and the home, particularly the kitchen, was well appointed with everything we could possibly need. Everyone in our large party commented how much they appreciated that. (Ample luxury towels, dinner setting for 50, plenty of sheets, super stocked kitchen with food and spices.) Local stores were only a block away, and a beautiful park with rose garden just an 8 block walk, all situated in a quiet neighborhood. We sat out on the porch well past dark playing games provided by our host. We have stayed at many B&B's and rented VRBO properties before, but without a doubt this was our best experience. Out host, Gary, could not have been more pleasant, thoughtful, or accommodating. I would recommend this lovely home to anyone looking for a rental in North Portland.

I came to Portland for a family wedding, so this house had three generations under one roof, from age 68 to age 4. The house was big enough for all of us, it was comfortable, and Gary's description of the property was accurate. Peninsula Rose Park is close by, where my granddaughter spent hours having fun, and the wedding happened there as well. There is shopping within a block, and our cousins live between Gary’s house and the park, so it was a great location for us. Gary was helpful and easy going. He did the walk-through the night before we left, since we had a very early morning flight, and returned my damage deposit on the spot. A great house, very clean, great location for us, and Gray was helpful. If we have as many people staying with us on our next visit to Portland, we will rent this house again.

Owner Response: Thank you Peter for your positive review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure having you and your family and I am looking forward to your next stay.

Reviewed by Jensine L. on May 07, 2013 for their trip during May 2013

My family and I all settled into Piedmont House from Central Oregon, Tacoma, and Minnesota. I chose Piedmont House on a whim, and was so pleased to find it was exactly what my family and I needed for a great gathering. Gary, the owner, had excellent communication in the preceding weeks and days. He checked in with us throughout the four-day visit to ensure our comfort. We filled the four bedrooms—myself and my cousin (each in our thirties) took two bedrooms, and my parents and aunt (in their 60s) took the other bedrooms. It was an accessible house for all of our abilities. We were most pleased with the access to all things desirable! A kitchen fully stocked with utensils and lots of dishes. TVs in nearly all rooms, full laundry including iron, comfy furniture, and lots of character. I like a house that feels comfortable enough to live in—I liked the rustic wood floors, huge windows, and cozy beds. I baked cookies, cooked meals, and entertained my guests with ease at the house. My graduation happened to be a weekend when Portland was in full bloom—that was a lucky coincidence for us. The plants on the property were colorful, fragrant, and a great backdrop for my “cap and gown” photos. While visiting we had to travel to the airport (10 minutes away), Concordia University (5 minutes away), downtown (easy access), and to the coast (again, easy to get to). I loved the central location of the house. I was a bit concerned as I drove up MLK Jr. Blvd (graffiti, lots of loiterers), but was pleased to see the house was in an established neighborhood that felt safe, day and night. The grocery store one block away was great for my dad who loved to walk and get the odds and ends (groceries) we needed incidentally. My parents would argue that there’s nothing the house needed to be more perfect for our stay. My only complaint is that I filled our schedules so full that we didn’t get to spend enough time relaxing there. I was also bummed that my family loves TV so much, because the huge one in the living room had so many channels and captivated them all weekend. Highly recommended vacation rental! You’ll not be disappointed.

We felt very welcome, and he even set the dining room table for all 9 of us. The house was very clean and orderly inside and out. There were fresh towels and linens for all the guests including two Aerobeds which came in handy. Our time was mostly spent downtown and in Hawthorne, which was about a ten dollar can ride away, but there were some great restaurants and bars in the immediate area. The only thing I would add to the listing is that the owner lives on the premises. This turned out to be a non-issue because it's a completely different level of the house, but it was different than some of us had expected. Five out of five. Hands down the nicest VRBO property I've rented. Thanks again!

He took care to ensure we had everything we needed. He offered advice on sights and events in Portland. I mentioned that I would like to grill and Gary even made sure his grill was ready to use. When we arrived Gary met our party and showed us all around the house. The house is in tremendous condition with tremendous amenities. It had four comfortable bedrooms and even a few aerobeds. The backyard was perfect for grilling and Gary provided lots of cookware and grill tools. The inside came with a wi-fi connection and Hi-Def TV's in every room. The porch provided a nice area to gather and enjoy the outside. The house is located in a nice neighborhood in NE Portland. It had easy access to downtown and the wealth of cultural activities available. I would highly recommend this to anyone, particularly large groups of people looking for a relaxing and exciting stay in Portland, Oregon.

The owner was very nice and it was a pleasant stay. He was attentive to our needs and helpful with ideas of the things to do in the area. The place was very clean with a few minor cleaning misses. There were a few code issues with the home, such as railings and disposal switch placement, mostly a concern if you go there with small children. (we pointed these out to the owner and he said he would take care of them) Also, the owner does live downstairs and there is no door to the stairs, which felt odd. So if you come with kids bring a baby gate. Again the owner is a great guy. and it is a nice home. Internet worked well, and he had an awesome supply of games for those who will.

Owner Response: I am working with a contractor to bring the upper stairs railings to code and move the placement of the garbage disposal switch. A door has also been installed off the kitchen in the stairway leading to the basement. I have now moved off the premises.

We stayed here for my birthday weekend and found the house to be the perfect combination of comfort and location. It has a nice front yard to relax in during the day and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Gary is a welcoming host.
